Utah living requires a lot of layers—layers of clothing that is. With weather that spikes up and over 100⁰ in the summer and crashes down below zero in the winter, temperatures in Utah are pretty extreme. In Southern Utah, the hot days are hotter, but the cold days are warmer too. Northern Utah faces 100⁰ temperatures, though maybe a degree or two cooler that Southern Utah, and much colder winter temperatures. That means that Northern Utah really needs to worry about having high quality HVAC systems. HVAC Utah covers much of Northern Utah—including Harrisville!
History of Harrisville
Harrisville was named for Martin Henderson Harris who built a home in the area. Interestingly enough, he was not the first to settle in the area. First there were Native American people occupying the area. White settlers—mostly farmers—later took over the area sparking multiple conflicts with the Native Americans. When Martin Henderson Harris moved into the area, these conflicts were still prevalent, though they eventually died down. Martin Henderson Harris was a nephew of Martin Harris (made famous by the Book of Mormon), so that is most likely why the settlement was named for him and not necessarily for the first person to settle the area.
Points of Interest in Harrisville
Harrisville City provides several great entertainment options for its citizens. One of the most notable of these is the Harrisville Splash Pad. This water attraction is open to the public. Splash pads put a spin on the classic playground, bringing interactive water features together with the climbing, sliding, running fun of old school playgrounds. This is a great activity for kids to participate in. Not only will it keep them entertained for hours, it is also free and a great way to keep cool on hot summer days. Harrisville is also home to three different parks: Independence Park, Harrisville Park, and Millennium Park. Independence Park is a great place for baseball and softball enthusiasts to sharpen up their ball-playing skills. This park has three different diamonds and a walking track that surrounds the entire park. Millennium Park is geared toward soccer fans. Two soccer fields take up the entirety of this park. A walking path surrounds this park as well, so you can walk around the track while you watch your kids play soccer. Harrisville Park is home to the Harrisville splash pad, a large playground if your kids are looking for some fun in the sun without the water. There are large grassy areas and shady areas. This park also has a walking trail. Pick a park and have a great day in Harrisville!
